During #Euromaidan City Mayor of Kharkiv Unlawfully Bans All Public Assemblies

The mayor of Kharkiv Gennadiy Kernes had signed the order №76/1 banning the mass assemblies in the city motivating it by the increase of number of flu and other respiratory illnesses.

This happened in the midst of protest actions with genetic title “Euromaidan” taking place all over Ukraine including Kharkiv. The actions are organized by citizens and opposition to show commitment to the ieda of European integration of Ukraine.

The journalists of Glavnoe website report that the order was published on the website of the city council only on Monday, November 25, but it is dated  November 22.

“This order is legally void, – says Evgen Zakharov, director of Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group. – The assemblies in Ukraine could be banned only by the court order.”
