Alexandra Shevchenko of FEMEN. Freed!

The women’s movement, FEMEN, decided to submit an official application to Amnesty International to grant Alexandra Shevchenko the status of a «Prisoner of conscience». The status of a «Prisoner of conscience» is given to a person who is in custody or administrative detention for peacefully expressed political, religious or scientific views.
In the opinion of the women’s movement, every member of FEMEN,  that is sentenced to such administrative detention, falls under the given status.
On April 22 Alexandra Shevchenko left the jail after three days of administrative arrest for her participation in the peaceful protest «Mess to the sarcophagus» on April, 19th.
As Sasha’s imprisonment coincided with her birthday,  her friends met by the jail and celebrated her birthday right there. The celebration was cheerful and festive.
The women’s movement FEMEN will fight the attempts of the current authority to establish a police state in Ukraine or to curtail freedom of speech and self-expression.
